Thought I might enter this into the James and the Giant Peach contest, as it's a theme that comes to mind when I need to escape from the real world...
This was originally just a realism practice painting, but I ended up going slightly overboard on the details and think it turned out pretty nicely.
Eucalypt forest scape in autumn based on the more enchanting aspects of my home land, with monach butterflies. I made custom brushes to get the texture of the tree rough and bark-like, and lots of tiny grass/plant/flower brushes as well.
